We don’t settle for “it is what it is” or “that’s how we always have done it.”
The three traits we look for when interviewing are: Humble, Hungry, and Smart. For a in-depth explanation of these three traits, check out the book The Ideal Team Player by Pat Lencioni.
Compensation: Competitive pay, includes 401k match and profit sharing, holiday pay, PTO (vacation and sick days) and paid training opportunities. Most recently, we went down to Louisville to the Remodeling and Deck Expo where we attended training sessions and toured the expo.
Below are position descriptions
(not necessarily open positions)
Project Manager
A fast paced position requiring extensive construction experience, excellent communication and organizational skills. Our Project Managers run our larger projects (full home remodels and additions). While other companies have their Project Managers run 4-10 projects at a time, we think 3 projects at a time is the most effective and provides the best experience to our clients.
Lead Carpenter
Our Lead Carpenters run our smaller projects (bathroom renovations to first floor renovations). They focus on one project at a time. Excellent communication skills are required. Ability to problem-solve, schedule trade partners, and write change orders. Must have a self-start attitude and willingness to work within a team atmosphere.
Carpenter
- a person who makes and repairs
woodenobjects and structures.
At Ann Arbor Remodeling, we highly respect the skilled trades and appreciate old world craftsmanship. We believe a carpenter should be a craftsman, and much more than the common misconception that carpenters only work with wood. Our carpenters are well versed in multiple areas. One day they might be framing an addition, and the next fabricating a concrete countertop. They might build a custom built-in cabinet, and then take it through the finishing process. We invest in training and take a group approach to problem solving.
This means the type of person we look for to be a carpenter on our team, is someone who believes in continual improvement. They aim for perfection, settling for excellence, knowing perfection is never achievable.
Designer
This position is the key to our beautiful projects. Without thoughtful design, it doesn’t matter how talented our craftsman are, they can’t create magic from a poor design.
The key to an exceptional designer is being a great listener that is able to confidently articulate ideas to our clients without being overbearing. Each of our projects is tailor fit to our clients.
Our designers listen to our clients needs, create a design that works for the client, and then develops the necessary details to handoff the project to our production team. This includes: Selections, Take-offs, Cut-sheets
